Vacations

I am so blessed to own a wonderful palapa home on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean in one of the most beautiful spots on earth, Punta El Custodio. My home, Casa Iguana, is available for guests who are looking for a pristine environment in which to practice yoga and have a great and relaxing vacation.

The price of this luxurious week long yoga vacation is $1,600 for one person and $2,200 for two. All meals are included and are lovingly prepared using the freshest local ingredients. Your picturesque room (with private bath) overlooks the ocean and beautiful seabirds passing by; the relaxing sound of the waves on the rocks below will lull you into the deepest sleep. A 1-1/2 hour yoga class is included every day (or every other day--it's your vacation!), customized for your skill level or area of therapeutic focus. The week also includes an excursion by boat into our magical 2500 acre estuary where Audubon friends of mine say they have seen more species of birds than any place they have ever been!

For an extra fee, a sea-worthy boat and captain is available for whale watching from November through April, fishing, snorkeling and exploring all year long. I can also arrange excursions to the town of San Blas for shopping or dining, a jungle "Tarzan" waterfall hike, a corny but wonderful touristy jungle cruise and other local wonders.

The weather at Punta Custodio is perfect all year around. There is a large, beautiful swimming pool on the property as well as a small soaking pool on our terrace. For ocean swimming you have the choice of a small, safe cove or the adjoining 12-mile-long empty beach, also perfect for body surfing and walking. The property looks out over one of the best surf breaks around for all of you body or board surfers.

For those of you who don’t know, a palapa is a house with a roof made of woven palm fronds. Although constructed in the traditional style, the house has all the modern conveniences. Casa Iguana is surrounded by lush foliage and brilliant flowers and is located in a small community of lovely homes on a point jutting into the Pacific.

If participation in a retreat interests you more, please check the calendar page from time to time or ask to be put on the mailing list. The next scheduled retreat (yoga and Thai massage!) is being held March 3 - 10, 2007. This retreat is being led by Ed Dailey and Bill Martell of Connecticut. And I'm branching out.....Yoga In Provence in May!!

Hope to see you soon.

Love and namaste, Barbara
